John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton have been awarded the Nobel Price in Physics “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks”.
There are many applications that can be benefited from the use of artificial neural networks. At LIOM, we are using a particular type of artificial neural network for wavefront sensing applications; such as the alignment and cophasing of the 15 mirror pairs (M1 and M2) of SELF.
